Our story begins in 1982, as San Marcos Mechanical, Inc. With a primary focus on industrial mechanical construction, the company quickly advanced from a small fabrication shop to a moderately sized mechanical contractor with interests in both industrial and commercial markets.

Robin Sides became Owner and President in 2000, centering his attention on becoming the most sought after mechanical contractor in the San Diego market. Changing the name from San Marcos Mechanical to Industrial Commercial Systems, Inc in 2001 was only one step.  The company also relocated its corporate office to Vista, CA with a larger, fully functional prefabrication shop and a vision to expand into additional markets.

Further change came to ICS in 2004, when Matt Harbin was brought on board. His extensive operations experience was a welcomed attribute for the team and has helped develop our crew into one of the finest San Diego has to offer.

Today, we have increased our vision to include four specific markets; life science, industrial, hospitality/gaming, and federal. What started out as a small prefab shop back in 1982, has flourished into a successful Mechanical Contracting Company with not only a Commercial Construction Division with Design/Build capabilities, but Special Projects and Service divisions as well.

At ICS, we consider the safety of our workforce to be of the utmost importance. We work closely with our general contractors and all on-site team members to ensure a safe working environment for all. We strictly abide by the guidelines of our own "Code of Safe Practices" and IIP Program. We continually keep safety at the forefront of our company culture by conducting:

• Daily Jobsite Safety Checklists

• Weekly Jobsite Tailgate Meetings

• Monthly Company-Wide Safety Meetings

• Monthly Safety Committee Meetings

• Post-accident Investigations


TRAINING

People and Innovation are two of ICS’s core values. We believe that training is a vital component in both of these values. 

Our Training Committee boasts a collective experience of over 100 years of mechanical construction experience. It is with this time tested expertise that we are able to identify the specific training requirements to complete successful projects.

By continually providing training to our employees, we are equipping all ICS employees and teams with the ability to:

• Gain increased knowledge to further their expertise in their chosen field, thus creating workforce that is “a notch above the rest.” 

• ICS is able to lead the industry in innovative design and installations. This is accomplished by adopting a policy of standardized installations, training ALL ICS installation crews on those standards and placing those same standards on all project installations.
